Manufacturer of Suspension Springs
China Custom Spring specializes in the design and production of tailored suspension springs to suit your specific needs. Whether it’s for high-performance cars and trucks or military vehicles, our coil springs, which are ISO-certified, are relied upon across a variety of automotive applications.
Our team of engineers collaborates closely with you to design and craft personalized suspension springs that precisely align with your requirements. The primary material used in the manufacturing of our coil springs is high-tensile grade Chrome Silicon (CrSi) alloy wire. This material is optimal for creating the lightest spring feasible when employing carbon-based steel. Nevertheless, there are various alloys accessible for producing coil springs, including Titanium for those seeking the lightest possible spring. Get in touch with us today to kick start your suspension spring project!

The materials we utilize not only meet but typically exceed OEM standards. We offer a wide selection of materials to choose from, ensuring the optimal spring for your specific application. Reach out to us today to discover the most suitable material for your coil spring needs.
1. High-Strength Carbon Alloys:
These alloys boast superior mechanical properties and tensile strength compared to low-carbon steel. Through the induction tempering process, they maintain high hardness and strength while retaining ductility. Ideal for springs where achieving the lightest weight is not the primary concern and cost-effectiveness is important. These materials adhere to ASTM A229 and UNS K08500 specifications for high carbon alloy wire, with a typical tensile strength of less than 235 Ksi.
2. Chrome Silicon Steel:
Known for its exceptional tensile strength surpassing most super alloys, Chrome Silicon Steel exhibits resilience at temperatures up to 400°F, making it perfect for high-performance vehicle springs such as those in race cars. Falling under ASTM A401, ASTM A 1000, SAE 9250, SAE 9254, BIS 685 A57, DIN 54SiCr6, EN 1.7102, and JIS SUP12 grades, this alloy’s induction tempered properties yield hardness levels exceeding conventional high-carbon steels. When correctly engineered, high-tensile chrome silicon springs can approach the weight reduction achieved by titanium alloy springs due to tensile strengths exceeding 300 Ksi while retaining necessary ductility for superior fatigue performance, albeit limited by material size constraints of less than 0.812” (20.6 mm).
3. 5160 Alloy Steel:
Renowned for its exceptional toughness, good ductility, and fatigue resistance, 5160 Alloy Steel excels in larger material diameters exceeding 1.00” (25 mm). Compliant with ASTM A689, ASTM A29, ASTM A304, DIN 55Cr3, EN 1.7176, and JIS SUP9 standards, this alloy finds common application in heavy-duty spring uses within large vehicle suspensions like truck lifts and commercial or military vehicle settings.
4. 6150 Chrome Vanadium Alloy Steel:
Offering superior toughness, remarkable ductility, and excellent fatigue resistance, 6150 Chrome Vanadium Alloy Steel shines in larger material diameters surpassing 0.75” (19 mm). Adhering to ASTM A108, ASTM A331, BS 735A50, DIN 50CrV4, EN1.8159, and JIS SUP10 specifications, this alloy is widely employed in the automotive sector for demanding spring loading applications in sizable vehicle suspensions such as truck lifts and various commercial or military uses.
5.Titanium is a unique non-ferrous alloy often utilized in high-performance racing car springs due to its exceptional properties. It boasts a high strength-to-weight ratio, with a density only 56% of high carbon steel. Notably, titanium exhibits excellent resistance to corrosion and can withstand temperatures exceeding 600 F, making it an ideal choice for applications requiring both light weight and superior strength. Commonly used grades for suspension applications include ASTM Grade 5, Ti-6Al-4V, AMS 4928, and UNS R56401. While Grade 5 is a popular and commercially prevalent option, Beta C grades offer even greater strength, albeit less commonly seen in commercial use. Grades like 15V-3Cr-3Al-3Sn and AMS 4914 boast up to 210 Ksi tensile strength for spring applications. When using titanium, it’s crucial to note that wire diameter should be significantly larger than steel due to titanium’s lower modulus of rigidity. This characteristic results in fewer active coils in a titanium spring compared to an equivalent steel spring. However, the main limitations of titanium lie in its availability and cost, which can be 10 to 50 times higher than that of a steel spring.
