Types of spring materials
The types of spring materials are mainly divided into two categories: metallic materials and non-metallic materials.
The commonly used metal spring materials are as follows:
Spring steel
- Carbon spring steel: typical grades include 70, 65Mn, T8, etc
- Alloy spring steel: typical grades include 50CrV, 55CrSi, 60Si2Mn, etc
- Stainless steel for springs: typical grades include 12Cr18N9, 06Cr19Ni9, 07Cr17Ni7A1, etc
Elastic alloy
- Copper alloys: tin bronze, silicon bronze, Russian bronze, white copper, and brass
- Nickel and nickel alloys: pure nickel, nickel copper alloy, nickel cobalt alloy, nickel chromium alloy
- Other special alloys: high-speed tool steel, alloys for elastic components, memory alloys, etc
The commonly used non-metallic spring materials are as follows:
Fluid material:
- Gas (air, hydrogen, etc.)
- Liquid (oil)
- Gas-liquid mixing
Inorganic materials:
- ceramic materials
Polymer materials:
- Rubber
- Plastic
- Fiber reinforced materials
