Garage Door Torsion SpringGarage Door Torsion Spring
The garage door torsion spring is usually centered above the garage door on a one inch shaft. One end of the spring is a winding cone fixed to the shaft with a set screw. At the other end of the spring is a stationary cone. This is fixed to the spring anchor bracket, which is fixed to the title. On the two spring assemblies, the fixed cones of the two springs are mounted on the return spring anchor bracket. The shaft extending through the spring transmits the tension from the spring to the cable drum at the end of the shaft. These drums pull on the cable and pull the bottom of the door to balance the weight of the garage door.

Garage door Spring Installation
Installation of upper slide garage door Spring
1. The door body is placed below (i.e. closed): one end of the torsion spring is fixed, the other end is wound to the number of turns required for installation, then push the adjusting end of the torsion spring to the fixed end, and tighten the screws on the adjusting flange.
Number of turns of torsion spring = door height ÷ circumference of winding wheel + pre tightening 0.5 ~ 1 turn.
2. Put the door body on top (i.e. open state): fix one end of the torsion spring, lengthen the torsion spring by 60 ~ 120mm along the adjusting end, pre tighten it by 0.5 ~ 1 turn, and finally fix the adjusting end of the torsion spring on the shaft with screws. Why should the torsion spring be elongated? Because the outer diameter of the torsion spring will become smaller and the number of turns will increase during the lifting of the door body, the spring will be elongated to make it have a certain gap to facilitate the lifting of the door body.
Installation of rolling shutter garage door
Before installing the torsion spring of rolling shutter garage door, it must be elongated by 80 ~ 150mm, and then one end must be fixed on the shaft and the other end on the torsion sleeve. The shaft and torsion sleeve are installed in the girder pipe. The torsion sleeve and girder pipe are firmly connected with countersunk screws, and the rotation of girder pipe drives the rotation of torsion spring. The specific installation is as follows:
1. The door body is placed below (i.e. closed): first, the girder pipe is not connected with the door sheet, and the girder pipe drives the torsion spring to rotate to the number of turns required for installation, and then connect the door sheet with the girder pipe.
Required number of installation turns = number of turns of the door piece on the girder pipe + 2 ~ 3 turns of pre tightening.
2. The door body is rolled on the top (i.e. open state): just pre tighten the torsion spring for 2 ~ 3 circles and firmly connect the door piece with the girder steel pipe.
Installation of lifting garage door spring
The lifting methods are divided into upper slide lifting, full vertical lifting and semi vertical lifting. The installation of torsion spring is as follows:
1. Upper slide lifting garage door: the installation method of torsion spring is the same as that of upper slide garage door.
2. Fully vertical lifting of garage door: tower wheel needs to be installed to balance the torsion of torsion spring and door weight. Because the torsion spring always bears the same weight of the door body, only by changing the wheel diameter, that is, changing the torque, can the torsion of the torsion spring be balanced with the door weight, so the tower wheel must be used.
The torsion spring of the fully vertical lifting door shall be pre tightened during installation, and its pre tightening force = door weight (generally 3.5 ~ 4.5 turns). The length of the steel wire rope is generally determined according to the drum of the tower wheel, and it is necessary to ensure that the tower wheel is fully wound from large circle to small circle.
3. Semi vertical lifting garage door: half tower wheel needs to be installed to balance the torsion of torsion spring and door weight. When the door is lifted vertically, use the tower wheel part of the half tower wheel, and when the sliding part of the door is lifted, use the flat wheel part of the half tower wheel.
The torsion spring of the semi vertical lifting garage door also needs to be pre tightened during installation, and its pre tightening force = the weight of the door body of the vertical part (generally pre tightened by 3.5 ~ 4.5 turns). The winding method of the steel wire rope is as follows: first wind the large circle to the small circle of the half tower wheel, and then continue to wind it on the flat wheel of the half tower wheel. The number of turns on the flat wheel is determined according to the lifting height of the sliding part of the door body.
